Belly Birth / Cesarean Scar Self-Care Workshop
A workshop for parents who have had c-sections/belly births. How our scars heal can impact on our physical and emotional health, organ function, movement comfort, and fertility. How we feel about our cesareans, episiotomies or tears can have an impact on our connection to our bodies, our births, and our babies + partners, and how we feel about future pregnancies.
During this workshop, you will learn simple massage techniques + movement to support your scar to healing well + functionally. Spend time exploring ways to reconnect emotionally to our scars + our bodies.
Instructor Kaeli Sutton is a massage therapist trained in manual scar rehabilitation, and a doula and childbirth educator with many years of experience (inside the operating room and after) working with parents who have had cesarean births. *Adaptations are made depending on the timing since your belly birth/ surgery. It is never “too late” to practice the supportive movement + self-massage techniques (even years later). Those who are less than 8 -weeks postpartum or must have written clearance from their OB/Midwife/Doctor.
Self-Care For Breast Health
Learn ways to support the health of your breasts at any stage in life — this class is for both lactating parents + women/breasted people of all ages.. Breasts and the tissue beneath them are an important part of identity, sexuality, the reproductive system and immune health. While we often only think breast health in connection to breastfeeding or in the case of challenges (mastitis, blocked ducts, etc) or disease (cancer, cysts, etc), connecting to this part of our bodies can provide space to develop more connection to, to ‘”claim” our bodies as our own, and to protect + support our health.
During this workshop you will learn how to massage your breasts for tissue and lymphatic health. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, these techniques can help prevent or resolve engorgement, blocked ducts and mastitis. *Students will have the option to practice directly over their skin (topless) in a screened part of the room, or to practice over clothing.
